Romans is packed full of rich truths about God and the power of the gospel. Paul begins by showing that all humanity—Jew and Gentile alike—is under the power of sin, and that salvation is a free gift of God’s grace received through faith in Christ. He explains how Christ’s death and resurrection bring justification, reconciliation, and new life in the Spirit. Paul unpacks how God freely chose to show mercy on Israel in the past, and how Gentiles are now grafted into the people of God through faith in Christ, and what this means for Israel today. He then goes on to unpack the transformative power of the gospel in the life of the believer, and the transformative power of the Christian community in the world, so that the Gentiles might “glorify God for his mercy.”
