// Vision 2030

// A bold vision for Aotearoa, New Zealand.

We long to see lives changed as God grows His kingdom across Auckland and New Zealand by 2030.

As you explore what God is doing through Ev Church, we pray that you would be encouraged by His faithfulness, and stirred to play your part in His mission.

Who We Are

As we look toward what God may do among us, we begin by reaffirming what He has already entrusted to us. These commitments summarise our mission, shaped by the gospel and anchored in God’s Word, and they form the foundation for everything we are praying toward in our vision.

Captivated

Growing
in Maturity and Number

Under God, we are committed to:

  • Magnifying the glory of God, seen most clearly in His Son;
  • Connecting authentically and uncompromisingly with the world and the church;
  • Sharing the good news of Jesus with the lost;
  • Maturing every person in their love and knowledge of God;
  • Equipping the next generation of Gospel workers;
  • Planting a network of grounded and growing churches throughout Auckland and New Zealand.

// The story so far.

Ev Church started in 2012 as a group of 8 people, gathered in a lounge room in central Auckland and has grown to a church of over 700 people across three campuses.

God slowly grew that little group of people to publicly launch our first service in the Movie Cinemas at St Lukes Mall, February 2013. People put their trust in Jesus, and were captured by a vision of seeing more and more people move from darkness into Jesus’ light. In March 2014 we planted Unichurch Ev, an evening congregation of Auckland Ev on the University of Auckland campus.

Over the next few years God grew our staff team, and raised up apprentices as workers for the harvest field across New Zealand and the world. As we launched our 2030 vision in February 2019, God made us a church of over 300 people from across the city of Auckland, prayerfully depending on Him to grow His kingdom for His glory! In 2021 our central campus moved into a new building at 80 Olsen Ave, Hillsborough.

In 2021 we launched our third campus at Albany Tennis Centre. In 2025 the new north campus moved into our new building at 9-11 Rothwell Ave, Rosedale. This is the first building we have purchased together as a church.

Join with us in praising God for His kindness, goodness and growth. Together we are a church of over 700 people across three campuses.

// Our Vision.

To see 120,000 more Aucklanders trusting in Jesus. That’s not just a statistic to us. That’s friends, neighbours, families, and communities moving from darkness into the light of Christ.

In 2012 it was estimated that around 2-3% of people in Auckland trusted in Jesus. That's 30,000 people. It is our prayer that God would increase that number to 150,000 people and 10% of Auckland in bible believing, missional churches. That means asking God to bring 120,000 more people to a saving knowledge of Jesus.

Will you join us in that prayer?

How?

“… we preach Christ crucified, a stumbling block to the Jews and foolishness to the Gentiles. Yet to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ is the power of God and the wisdom of God.”
1 Corinthians 1:23-24

God has done this before.

Over 2,500 years ago, God sent Jonah to Nineveh, a city that had lost its way. Jonah spoke just five words, yet God moved powerfully. The entire city, around 120,000 people, turned back to Him.

We ask God for 10% of Auckland not because it is easy, but because God delights to save, even through weak and reluctant people like us.

Jesus later said that One greater than Jonah had come (Matthew 12:41). In Christ, we see a greater salvation, a greater hope, and a greater call.

Centrality of the Gospel

The gospel is His power for salvation to everyone who believes.
Romans 1:16

It is through this gospel power that we ask God to work in and through us, to see many more people come to trust in Jesus across this land and beyond.

At Ev Church, we know we are weak. Yet we are deeply confident, because God is strong. The news of Jesus’ life, death, resurrection, and ascension may appear foolish to the world, but it is God’s power for salvation.

This gospel, the good news of Jesus Christ the Lord, defines who we are and fuels everything we do. We are convinced that God works by His Spirit through His living and active Word.

The apostle Paul reminds us that all over the world, “the gospel has been bearing fruit and growing” (Colossians 1:6). When people truly understand God’s grace in Jesus, life is brought where there was once darkness. And as Paul urges, “Just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, so continue in Him” (Colossians 2:5–6).

The gospel is not only the beginning of the Christian life. It is the means by which God keeps us, shapes us, and grows us to the end.

// Four. Big. Things.

We are asking God to do four incredible things by the year 2030:

  • Grow Ev Church to 2030 people across 6 campuses;
  • Plant 4 campuses in Auckland and 4 church plants across New Zealand;
  • Train and send 30 people into full-time gospel ministry;
  • Build a gospel training hub.
